Relationship to others

Relationship towards Walton

People would follow Eldridge orders and words without any hesitation, making it impossible for anyone to rebel against him. People brave enough to rebel against him would bee seen as fools or allies of the demons.

Only a few know about Eldridge true's intentions and nature, Father Gainsbourg being the one who is secretly opposed to Eldridge's ideas.

Eldridge is the man who broke Walton's mind since the young boy was 10 years old. He kept Walton captive for 4 years until he got pushed down the high set of stairs by the young boy, the man died on the impact. In the game notes, his obsession towards Holly (Walton's mom) leaves the player thinking of different things he might have done to the young boy. Eldridge was delusional enough to think that Holly might have taken possession of the young boy's body, driving the priest insane.

Backstory of Eldridge

Relationship towards Walton

Eldridge was one of the youngest priests of the village, his charisma and goals of protecting each and every single villager as well as guiding them to the eternal fortune and peace convinced a lot of people to let him be part of the Christian group. Eldridge only wanted to gain power so that he could get whatever he wished for. People would have done anything for him which was his main goal.

Since he was rather young, Eldridge had an obsessive personality, trying to get as many things as possible he could possibly get. His parents noticing his behavior tried to “cure him” and raise him to become a better man. Seeing that being a good person helped to get his own way, Eldridge pretended to be a whole different person, helping others and showing a good image of himself. All of this fake identity was to hide his true intentions. When he heard that people of power could use that power for their own benefits, the young Eldridge decided to go through various roles to get what he wanted, starting by becoming a priest.

He “fell in love” with a woman named Holly which is Walton’s mom. Her not being interested in him, she rejected his advances many times. Not being able to get to manipulate her, he decided to frame her for practicing sorcery. Eldridge exposed her to the whole village, convincing everyone that she was a witch. All of this scheme against Holly was organized just due to the fact that she did not want to be his. Each time Eldridge couldn’t get what he wanted, he would find a way to get revenge, no matter how cruel he had to be. This man has no morals and only cares about himself and his own wellbeing.  He convinced the people of higher grades to execute her publicly, Walton and his grandmother had to be there as well. Her execution not being enough to ease his spirit, he decided to take Walton in charge to cleanse him from evil. All he wanted was to ease his anger by using that child, practicing various torture methods on the young boy.

One day, he forgot his keys on one of the altar’s, Gainsbourg taking the opportunity to unlock Walton’s door. When Eldridge realized that Walton fled, he ran after him and almost succeeded in keeping him captive again. The young boy being mentally broken managed to push Eldridge downstairs, killing him on the impact.
